The Charter Center’s School Supports and Development team is committed to ensuring schools’ operational effectiveness and efficiencies. We provide instruction to new hires, refreshers for veteran staff, and real-time updates for leadership.

Our in-house experts partner with school and industry leaders to provide dozens of trainings, best practice sharing opportunities and guidance on key topics including school operations, human resources, finance, facilities management and more.
Our direct services – including Teacher Certification Reviews and State Assessment Scoring Consortium, to name a few – are designed to build schools’ capacity to effectively (and efficiently!) serve their students and staff.
For more than 20 years, the Charter Center’s teams have collected exemplars, produced FAQs and guidance, and vetted service providers to help build schools’ knowledge and capacity. School teams are encouraged to check out our online Resource Library and Vendor List.
The Charter Center’s marketing and PR teams work to educate families about the charter school option. We promote schools via the NYC Charter School FINDER, Open House Calendar and Common Online Charter School Application. We also seek to dispel charter school myths and misinformation to ensure policymakers stay informed. Get the Facts!
Our team is committed to ensuring NYC charter schools receive the funding and services they are entitled to as public schools. We monitor city and state laws and regulations, push back on bureaucratic creep, and work to operationalize new policies and procedures to the benefit of charter schools and their students.
2024-25 School Year
100,268 state exams and assessments were scored by the Charter Center’s annual Test Scoring Consortium, providing schools with a streamlined, standardized system for evaluating student responses.
Over 32,00 applications to NYC charter schools were submitted through the Charter Center’s Common Online Charter School Application.
The Charter Center’s 2024-25 NYC Charter Sector Compensation Survey collected data from153 charter schools, helping participants develop competitive compensation packages that combine salary, health care coverage, and other benefits.
Over 1,700 charter school operations staff participated in the 29 PDs offered by the School Supports & Development team, covering everything from the development of Ops leaders to student enrichment and empowerment.
The School Supports team created and/or redeveloped 27 resources and guides to save schools time and money and ensure efficient operations.
532 NYC charter school educators received one-on-one consultations from our Teacher Certification Advisors, putting teachers on the path to certification and supporting their continued development.
The NYC Charter School FINDER launched featuring information and data sets for NYC’s approximately 430 charter school campuses, making it NY’s definitive guide for families.
