The Charter Center’s School Supports and Development team is committed to ensuring schools’ operational effectiveness and efficiencies. We provide instruction to new hires, refreshers for veteran staff, and real-time updates for leadership.

Our in-house experts partner with school and industry leaders to provide dozens of trainings, best practice sharing opportunities and guidance on key topics including school operations, human resources, finance, facilities management and more.
Our direct services – including Teacher Certification Reviews and State Assessment Scoring Consortium, to name a few – are designed to build schools’ capacity to effectively (and efficiently!) serve their students and staff.
For more than 20 years, the Charter Center’s teams have collected exemplars, produced FAQs and guidance, and vetted service providers to help build schools’ knowledge and capacity. School teams are encouraged to check out our online Resource Library and Vendor List.
The Charter Center’s marketing and PR teams work to educate families about the charter school option. We promote schools via the NYC Charter School FINDER, Open House Calendar and Common Online Charter School Application. We also seek to dispel charter school myths and misinformation to ensure policymakers stay informed. Get the Facts!
Our team is committed to ensuring NYC charter schools receive the funding and services they are entitled to as public schools. We monitor city and state laws and regulations, push back on bureaucratic creep, and work to operationalize new policies and procedures to the benefit of charter schools and their students.
2025-26 School Year
The Charter Center’s NEW Operations & Reporting Deadline Calendar documents 378 state, local, and authorizer deadlines and action items to ensure that charter school operations teams stay on track!
212,450 state exams and assessments (a 45% increase from the year before!) were scored by the Charter Center’s annual Test Scoring Consortium, providing schools with a streamlined, standardized system for evaluating student responses.
The Charter Center’s 2025-26 Common Online Charter School Application saw a 17% increase in campus participation from the previous year, with 365 schools receiving 35,151 applications from students in all five boroughs.
72 charter school leaders participated in the School Supports department’s NEW Leadership Development training series this past year, gaining foundational core skills and best practices for effective people and work management.
1,774 charter school leaders and operations staff members attended 52 School Supports programming events this past year, gaining insight on topics such as leadership strategies, budget preparation, state and city policy updates, and more.
The Charter Center’s Teacher Certification Review program conducted 504 one-on-one consultations with and sent 16,338 personalized emails to charter school educators across the city, guiding them through the certification process and supporting their continued development.
The NYC Charter School FINDER received 312,096 visits from prospective students and families this past year.
