STATEMENT FROM NYC CHARTER SCHOOL CENTER CEO JAMES MERRIMAN ON ADEQUATE CHARTER SCHOOL SPACING

(New York, NY) Please credit the following statement to James Merriman, CEO of the New York City Charter School Center (Charter Center):

“Finding space for proven, high-quality schools should be a priority, not an unwelcome duty done halfway or half-heartedly. When a charter school says there is space, it is the Department of Education’s burden of proof to show that there is not. Otherwise, it is fair to draw the conclusion that Mayor de Blasio’s administration is continuing to treat charters unequally.”
