New York City Charter School Center Congratulates Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani
(NEW YORK) – Following Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s election victory, James Merriman, CEO of the New York City Charter School Center released the below statement:
“We congratulate Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on his victory and the spirited campaign that led to it. We look forward to partnering with his administration to ensure that every NYC public school student can access a free and high-quality education that sets them up for success. Charter schools – and the 150,000 students they serve – make our city more vibrant and affordable for working families. There is little doubt that Mayor-elect Mamdani and his message of hope and help reached them and moved them as it did so many.
Charter schools and traditional district schools have been collaborating with each other for a long time. We share a common vision and a common goal: a city that allows the dreams of our children to come true, for all families, no matter their zip code or circumstances. We look forward to a mayor who will unite us, strengthen us and provide us the resources our children and families deserve.”
