CHARTER SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE MONTH KICKS OFF; PUBLIC CHARTERS ACROSS NYC ENCOURAGE FAMILIES TO EXPLORE THEIR PROGRAMS AND LEARN ABOUT PUBLIC SCHOOL OPTIONS
Deadline to Apply to Charter Schools Approaching on April 1
(NEW YORK) – The New York City Charter School Center today announced the launch of “Charter School Open House Month” – a monthlong opportunity for families and students across the five boroughs to learn more about the high-quality public education options available to them. Throughout February, charter schools across New York City will be hosting hundreds of virtual and in-person information sessions, school tours, and events to give families an opportunity to explore their offerings and learn more about the public charter school options available to them.
For more information and to find events available in your borough, the Charter Center has created an interactive Online Charter School Open House Calendar. Once families are ready to apply, the Common Online Charter School Application offers an easy way for families to submit one application to multiple schools at once.
“We’re excited to kick off this year’s Charter School Open House Month and offer families across the five boroughs an opportunity to learn more about the incredible public school options available to their kids,” said James Merriman, CEO of the New York City Charter School Center. “Despite the historic challenges New Yorkers have faced due to the pandemic, our City’s public charter schools have continued to deliver quality education that serves the needs of more than 140,000 students. Every year, more parents are sticking with and choosing to send their children to charter schools – today we invite families across the City to explore these schools and learn why.”
