THE SPECIAL EDUCATION COLLABORATIVE TO SHOWCASE NATIONAL EXPERTS AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE

HUNDREDS OF NYC EDUCATORS TO ATTEND CONFERENCE ON EQUITY AND INCLUSION IN NYC CHARTER SCHOOLS

(NEW YORK) – The Special Education Collaborative, a program of the NYC Charter School Center, will bring together hundreds of educators and nationally-renowned experts at its 2018 annual conference tomorrow, June 6th and Thursday, June 7th at Brooklyn Law School.

The Special Education Collaborative was formed in 2011 after the New York City Charter School Center merged a consortium of borough-based programs into a single entity. Today, it serves 190 charter schools, empowering them to develop high quality, inclusive learning environments for students. Through workshops, conferences, and various resources, the Collaborative delivers access to cutting-edge professional development to support special student populations, expert technical assistance, and advocacy in support of schools’ efforts to deliver best-in-class instruction.

Since its launch, the Special Education Collaborative has evolved to focus on issues such as equity, justice, and culturally-responsive teaching. This year’s event – “The Intersection of Equity and Inclusion: Cultivating a Community of Change Agents” – builds on that work as it supports hundreds of charter school educators citywide.
