NYC CHARTER SCHOOLS SUPPORT PUERTO RICO RECOVERY WITH DONATION DRIVE
Students, Faculty Work Together to Send Essential Goods to Disaster Area
Students and faculty at Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School donate supplies to Puerto Rico
NEW YORK – Twenty-seven New York City charter schools sent a combined 14 tons of essential goods to support Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria this week, the New York City Charter School Center (“Charter Center”) reported today. Students and faculty alike packed vans, provided by the Charter Center, full of bottled water, batteries, baby formula, diapers, and other non-perishable goods.
Schools in four boroughs contributed to this effort.
- Bronx-based charter schools contributed 7.5 tons of supplies.
- Brooklyn-based charter schools contributed 3.5 tons of supplies.
- Queens-based charter schools contributed 1.5 tons of supplies.
- Manhattan-based charter schools contributed 1.5 tons of supplies.
