NEW YORK CITY CHARTER SCHOOL CENTER STATEMENT ON THE NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOLS 2019

Four of the Eight NYC Schools Recognized are Charter Schools

(NEW YORK) – James Merriman, CEO of the New York City Charter Center, today released the following statement following the announcement of the National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2019. Four out of the eight New York City schools recognized as Blue Ribbon winners are charter schools:

“The Blue Ribbon recognition for the Academic Leadership Charter School, Achievement First Bushwick Charter School, Hellenic Classical Charter School, and the South Bronx Classical Charter School II is well deserved and a testament to the work these educators are doing. We also are happy to see recognition for the traditional district schools that received this honor. All children deserve an excellent education and a school that can provide it.”
