JAMES MERRIMAN STATEMENT ON NEW YORK BOARD OF REGENTS CHANCELLOR MERRYL TISCH

"Improving standards for educators, administrators, school districts and educational institutions is an incredibly difficult and thankless job," said James Merriman, CEO of the New York City Charter School Center. "Chancellor Tisch accepted the challenge and led this state forward, and millions of students across New York are better for it. Anybody who has had the good fortune to work with Merryl walks away with respect for her fierce intelligence, wit and political acumen, not to mention her tremendous reservoir of compassion and caring for children who have gotten the short end of life’s stick. At every turn, she has remained committed to doing right by the students of New York state, and she will be sorely missed."
