1,500 NEW YORK CHARTER SCHOOL PARENTS, EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS JOIN TOP OFFICIALS TO DEMAND ELIMINATION OF ARBITRARY CHARTER CAP & EQUITABLE FUNDING FOR ALL CHARTERS
Albany, NY – On Tuesday, February 7, 1,500 charter school parents, pupils and teachers from all over New York will head to Albany for the 13th annual Charter School Advocacy Day, co-hosted by the New York City Charter School Center and the Northeast Charter Schools Network.
A bipartisan group of legislators from both chambers will call on their colleagues to support Governor Cuomo’s charter budget priorities, including the elimination of the arbitrary charter cap. The day’s events will include speeches and performances from students and a keynote address from Dr. Steve Perry, a well-known education advocate and Founder of Capital Preparatory Schools. After the program, charter parents will make their case in nearly 90 meetings with legislators.
