Introductory ATS Training

Are you new to ATS? ATS is the primary source system for student data which feeds DOE services and systems like SESIS (Special Education), per pupil invoicing, and systems used by the Office of Pupil Transportation. This training will cover accessing and navigating ATS, ATS resources, and performing basic updates and report generation.

McKinney Vento: Welcoming and Serving Students in Temporary Housing

Charter schools have a myriad of responsibilities when it comes to serving this vulnerable population. The experts from NYS-TEACHS will prepare school personnel for enrolling and serving students in temporary housing, including transportation protections, privacy protections, stronger supports for unaccompanied youth, and more.

School Panel: Wraparound Services for Students in Temporary Housing & Asylum Seekers

This panel of school leaders will explore the benefits of wraparound services for students in our schools. We will explore how to create systems to support new arrivals and students in temporary housing.

Family & Community Engagement

Community and family engagement is important for advocacy because it helps to build a strong base of support for the issues that matter most to your organization. This school led panel will share how they engage internal and external stakeholders to advocate for change.

We’ll review procedures and practices for co-located schools, including how to handle disputes with co-located schools, how to request additional space.

Join this session if you want to know about key DOE systems, the information flows between systems, and how to get access to and troubleshoot these systems.

School Safety and Emergency Preparedness

Our colleagues from the NYCDOE Office of Safety and Youth Development will review school safety requirements outlined by state and local law and best practices. The focus will be on schools in shared district space with applications for schools in private space. Participants will take a look at some common safety scenarios and consider how schools should respond.

11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Everything Student Health: Nursing, MAFs and 504, AED/CPR, and Immunizations

Participants will learn the process for obtaining a school nurse, get answers to common questions about nursing in schools, as well as the process for obtaining and approving Medication Administration Forms and 504 Requests. Furthermore, the AED/CPR Program Office Team will review the AED/CPR program including how to schedule training and request support. Then the DOE Charter Office will provide schools with an overview of immunization requirements and deadlines.

1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Office of Pupil Transportation Training

In this session, participants will get a deep dive into MetroCards and bus service from the Office of Pupil Transportation. The team will share key deadlines and tasks to complete in ATS and OPT systems.

NYC Kids Rise: An Early Start to Saving for College

Learn how every kindergarten student enrolled in a participating NYC public school automatically receives a NYC Scholarship Account with an initial $100 allocation on their behalf. Learn about the toolkits and resources that have been put together to help your school implement the program.

Data Management for Federal and State Reporting

The NYC DOE Charter Schools Office in partnership with Eastern Suffolk BOCES will discuss state SIRS reporting, including which data comes from which DOE systems and what must be submitted separately. This will include a review of data reporting requirements, the collection process, and high-level due dates for the upcoming school year.

Outreach, Investigations, and Student Discharges

Participants will learn best practices for outreach including tips for conducting investigations of non-attending students. We will also review the types of student discharges and how to enter them in ATS.

SESIS Training

The SESIS training presentation contains information on accessing SESIS, IEPS, and the process that is shared with CSEs.

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

ELL Identification and Enrollment

Attendees will learn about best practices and legal mandates for ELL enrollment and identification. We will discuss language access, suggested policies, and NYSITELL-eligibility.

Intermediate ATS Training

For users who know the basics or those who have not used ATS recently, this training will cover the most regularly used ATS jump codes, reports, and best practices. Users should know how to log into and navigate ATS to attend this training.
