93.5% of NYC parents surveyed in our annual public perception poll reported that they were aware of the public charter school option. 88% described their overall feelings toward charter schools as positive, with ratings of 6 or above on a scale of 1-10.
The Charter Center’s paid ads and organic social media content received 37.4 million impressions during the 2024-25 school year (compared to 573,939 the year before)!
100,268 state exams and assessments were scored by the Charter Center’s annual Test Scoring Consortium, providing schools with a streamlined, standardized system for evaluating student responses.
Collaborative members were given access to 7 nationally-recognized experts in special education and ELL/MLL supports through half-day seminars and workshop intensives.
59 blog posts were published by the Collaborative team this year, sharing insights and resources on everything from testing accommodations to cultural inclusion to co-teaching strategies and emotional regulation.
The Collaborative’s Special Education and ELL/MLL Leadership Cohorts brought together 64 school leaders throughout the year to share experiences, identify best practices, and plan for future issues/challenges.
212 resources and tools were created by the Collaborative team, including guidance, templates, data analysis and deep dives to assist with implementation of inclusive classroom practices.
The Collaborative team spent 306 hours on the ground in NYC charters, providing thought partnership, coaching and personalized PDs to school teams.
Our new PD on Demand platform launched with 52 online courses produced by the Collaborative team. The courses, which can be accessed anytime, anywhere are designed to build the capacity and skill sets of leaders and educators as they seek to best serve their special populations.

Over 32,00 applications to NYC charter schools were submitted through the Charter Center’s Common Online Charter School Application.
The Charter Center’s 2024-25 NYC Charter Sector Compensation Survey collected data from 153 charter schools, helping participants develop competitive compensation packages that combine salary, health care coverage, and other benefits.
Over 1,700 charter school operations staff participated in the 29 PDs offered by the School Supports & Development team, covering everything from the development of Ops leaders to student enrichment and empowerment.
Our data and research team developed 127 personalized data sets for NYC electeds, providing detailed information about the status and successes of charter schools in their districts.
PRO-CHARTER LEGISLATION INTRODUCED! For the first time ever, pro-charter legislation was introduced in both NY’s Senate and Assembly. The bills, which our team helped shape, call for facilities funding for charter schools in private facilities that were left out of the 2014 legislation.
RAISING CHARTER LEADERS VOICES. Our legal and policy teams submitted two amicus briefs, delivered testimony at five local and state hearings and developed two sector wide sign-on letters to bring attention to and garner resources for NYC’s charter schools.
LEGISLATION PASSED! After more than 7 years of advocacy, our team secured charter schools’ inclusion in NYC Council Bill 532a-2024, which will enable NYC charter schools to access approximately $8M to cover security guard expenses.
532 NYC charter school educators received one-on-one consultations from our Teacher Certification Advisors, putting teachers on the path to certification and supporting their continued development.
The NYC Charter School FINDER launched featuring information and data sets for NYC’s approximately 420 charter school campuses, making it NY’s definitive guide for families.
