Students in New York State speak over 200 languages, and we all know biliteracy is important in today’s global economy. The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) recognizes students who have attained a high level of proficiency in two or more world languages (one of which must be English) by high school graduation. Discover how to help your students distinguish themselves from other high school graduates and new college entrants by earning this commendation.
Learn the nuts and bolts of how to get started from Candace Black, Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages at NYSED. Also, hear firsthand how a high-performing charter school implemented the program. Melissa Melkonian, Founder and Head of School at the American Dream Charter School, will share her personal experience.
